Future U is a business that helps high school students with college and career planning. This client had previously advertised in central Iowa high school gyms and was looking to update their advertisements. They provided a new logo and some initial designs. I recommended that we split up the information across three main slides and two additional banner slides, so that it could easily be read from the stands. This also ensured that there was more space to add design elements and format text in an eye-catching way.
This client needed some assistance with copy, as they were not sure exactly how to advertise their business. They had received feedback on previous ads suggesting that they should clarify that this was a local business and that they should include the owner’s picture. For the first slide, I focused on listing the services offered and mentioning that the business was local. I also devoted another slide to introducing the owner with the provided headshot. The client was not sure what to do for the final slide and went through several options.
For the final ads, the client requested that her daughter’s image be used instead of a stock photo and that the final slide should include lots of sports elements. She wanted to highlight that they offer services specifically to athletes, and she did not want to focus on any specific sport. I used a rule of thirds grid with the provided branding to help the images of the people be the main focus of each slide. I also recommended adjusting the copy to make it more actionable for the viewer, which can be seen in the changes to the banner ads.
