I designed this animation package for Anamosa High School to use on the LED board in their gymnasium. There are 50 animations overall, spread out across basketball, volleyball, wrestling, and general sports. I created and illustrated all the assets for this project, beginning with sketches and style frames and then creating my animations in After Effects. I used the branding and logos provided by the school to guide my designs and did not use any plugins or stock footage for this project.
I wanted to keep the animations whimsical to appeal to a wide audience while also keeping in mind that they would be used during high school athletic events rather than professional sporting events. The animation package has a cohesive feel so that all the animations can be used during a game and still feel like they belong together. Due to the announcing done during games, these animations were designed without sound. The animations are all roughly around 10–15 seconds long. I wanted the package to be consistent across sports so that all animations feel equally connected to the school’s brand.
